Hey It's Friday

What a week. Monday's Rusted Root show was great. Probably the best I've heard a band sound from the upper right balcony at the 9:30 Club. I like the sounds off their latest studio album, but I wish they would have played more from "Remember". Oh well, still a fun show.

Tuesday I watched Oakland play their way into a game against #1 North Carolina in the Opening Game of the NCAA Tournament.

Wednesday was my birthday, and I celebrated with fellow college alumni before returning home to watch IU mail in a horrible, uninspired performance at home to Vanderbilt in the NIT. IU finished the season 15-14. Not a good finish to the season for Mike Davis & Co. IU needs to be impressive to start the season next year.

I'm saying now - the Big Ten will be back in a big way next season. The ACC and Big East better watch out, because the Big Ten will challenge for best basketball conference in the country. That makes Mike Davis' job that much tougher, since IU must finish near the top in the conference, if not win the Big Ten and advance far in the NCAA Tournament next year. IU will have the talent and experience for a title run next year.

Yesterday, NCAA Tournament games kicked into high gear. I correctly picked 13 out of 16 games, including the Wisconsin-Milwaukee win, Nevada and Pacific.

The weekend looks to be filled with basketball and more basketball, plus the temperatures are turning spring-like in DC. Things are going really well. Enjoy the weekend.
